Privacy Policy

Pursuant to art. 13 of EU Regulation no. 679/2016 “General Data Protection Regulation” the University of Pisa informs on the methods of processing personal data made available by users of the internetwww.epc-masterdegree.it site.

According to the indicated legislation (GDPR), the treatment is based on the principles of lawfulness, correctness and transparency, adequacy, relevance and limitation, accuracy and updating, non-excess and responsibility.

The types of users are:

  1. simple visitors to the site;
  2. the community of the University of Pisa that accesses the services through authentication.

1. DATA CONTROLLER

The Data Controller is the University of Pisa, with registered office in Pisa, Lungarno Pacinotti 43, 56126 in the person of the Rector pro tempore.

3. PURPOSE AND LEGAL BASIS OF THE PROCESSING

The personal data collected are processed to fulfill the following purposes:

  1. guarantee navigation and access to the site;
  2. provide the user with the information and services requested;
  3. obtain anonymous statistical information on the use of the web portal or related services, check its correct functioning, carry out monitoring activities to support its security and identify actions aimed at its improvement (for navigation data);
  4. fulfill legal obligations, comply with orders from Public Authorities, ascertain any liability in case of hypothetical computer crimes against the site or its users.

The legal bases of the processing can be identified in the following:

  1. performance of tasks in the public interest;
  2. consent of the interested party pursuant to art. 6, paragraph 1, RGDP.

4. CATEGORIES OF DATA PROCESSED

  1. Navigation data: the computer systems and software procedures used to operate this website acquire, during their normal operation, some personal data whose transmission is implicit in the use of the Internet. This information is not collected to be associated with identified interested parties, but by their very nature could, through processing and association with data held by third parties, allow users to be identified. This category of data includes the “IP addresses” or domain names of the computers used by users connecting to the site, the addresses in URL (Uniform Resource Locator) notation of the requested resources, the time of the request, the method used to submit the request to the web server, the size of the file obtained in response, the numerical code indicating the status of the response given by the web server (successful, error, etc.) and other parameters relating to the operating system and the user’s computer environment. The navigation data relating to the IP addresses of HTTP and HTTPS requests are stored in the web server logs and used only and exclusively for computer security checks. The data in question could also be used, at the request of the competent judicial authority and with the guarantees provided by law, to ascertain responsibility in case of any computer crimes committed against the site.
  2. Data provided directly by the user of the site: this is that information, contact details, which are collected to allow the user access to certain services. The provision of such data is not mandatory, however the refusal to provide them may not allow the user to use the services in question.
  3. Data collected through cookies: cookies are small text strings that a site sends to the user’s browser (for example Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome), which stores them and then retransmits them to the same site at the next visit by the same user.

The portal www.epc-masterdegree.it uses cookies. The cookies sent by the portal are used exclusively for technical reasons, such as allowing authentication to restricted areas or storing temporary user preferences. The cookies sent by the portal are in no way used for visitor profiling activities and do not allow the collection of personal information relating to users.

Third-party cookies: The portal makes use of third-party content (through resource embedding techniques), it is therefore possible that during the visit to the portal other cookies, both technical and able to perform user profiling, are sent by these third parties to the user’s terminal.

It is the right of the user who visits the portal to refuse in whole or in part the cookies sent both by the portal and by third-party sites, acting on the settings available in the browser. Disabling cookies may prevent the proper functioning of some services or the use of certain content.

5. PROCESSING METHODS

The processing of personal data takes place mainly automatically, following logic strictly related to the purposes and for the time strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which they were collected, through adequate and preventive security measures such as to minimize the risks of destruction and loss of data, unauthorized access or processing not allowed or not in accordance with the purpose of the collection.

6. CATEGORIES OF SUBJECTS AUTHORIZED TO PROCESS DATA

Users’ personal data will be known and processed in compliance with current legislation on the subject only by technical personnel authorized to process by the Data Controller or by formally appointed external managers.

7. DATA RETENTION PERIOD

The determination of the retention period of personal data responds to the principle of necessity of processing. Personal data are therefore kept for the entire period necessary to carry out the purposes. Specifically:

  1. Navigation data will be kept for a maximum of 4 months
  2. The data provided directly by the user are not stored on the system: the data collection form on the site is transformed into an e-mail and managed by subjects specifically authorized to process that data.
  3. The data collected through cookies will be kept for a maximum of 48 hours (currently the site has only session cookies lp_session_guest expiring 48 hours)

8. PLACE OF DATA PROCESSING AND COMMUNICATION OF THE SAME

The treatments connected to the web services offered by this site take place at the headquarters of the external hosting manager (Celsius s.r.l.). No data deriving from the service is disseminated. The personal data provided by users who access the telematic services are used for the sole purpose of using the service itself and are not disclosed to third parties, unless the communication is imposed by legal obligations or is strictly necessary for the fulfillment of the taxpayer’s tax obligations.

9. RIGHTS OF THE INTERESTED PARTY AND METHODS OF EXERCISE

The user may exercise his rights under section 2, 3 and 4 of Chapter III of EU Regulation no. 679/2016 (e.g. rights of information and access, rectification and cancellation, limitation and opposition to processing, portability of personal data). The user also has the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority (in Italy the Guarantor Authority for the protection of personal data, www.garanteprivacy.it, e-mail garante@gpdp.it, switchboard tel. 06696771).

10. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

All rights to the contents (by way of example texts, images and architecture of the site) are reserved in accordance with current legislation. The contents of the pages of the site may not, in whole or in part, be copied, reproduced, transferred, uploaded, published or distributed in any way without the prior written consent of the University of Pisa, except for the possibility of storing them on your computer or printing extracts of the pages of this site solely for personal use. Any form of link to this site, if inserted by third parties, must not damage the image and activities of the University of Pisa. It is forbidden the cd. deep linking, i.e. the non-transparent use, on third-party sites, of parts of the site. It is also forbidden to link directly to the pages of the site, relating to the services provided, if this involves the acquisition of personal data of the same, without going through the introductory page of the service, containing the privacy policy. Any failure to comply with these provisions, unless explicitly authorized in writing, will be prosecuted in the competent civil and criminal courts.

11. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

The University of Pisa cannot be held responsible in any way for damages of any kind caused directly or indirectly by access to the site, by the inability or impossibility to access it, by reliance on the information contained therein or by their use. The University of Pisa reserves the right to modify the contents of the site and this page at any time and without notice. It is therefore advisable to check that the version referred to is as up-to-date as possible.

The University of Pisa assumes no responsibility for services offered by third parties with whom the site has activated a link, and for any other content, information or anything else contrary to the laws of the Italian State present in the resource of the third party connected to the attached link.
