Over the last few years the companies that are part of the paper and converting industrial district of the province of Lucca and which also operate globally have contributed to the definition of the necessary requirements for the training of workers in the sector. It should be remembered that in the last 16 years the Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering, through the experience of the Master in Paper and Cardboard Technology, of specific topic in the sector, has created a real network of experiences, skills and communication between the various subjects who, both at a training level and at a company level, operate in the paper and converting sector and in their service.

At the end of the training path identified with the design of the Master’s Degree in question, a well-qualified professional figure is offered to the labor market, which is characterized both by specific knowledge and by a flexible and systemic mentality, deriving from the strong integration of the technological culture, with the acquired economic and organizational skills.
The course aims to train engineers capable of autonomously managing the development process of industrial products, from the conceptual phase to design, testing, production and post-production, and characterized by the ability to relate to multiple experts in different areas and to face the growing complexity of current and future systems and products.
There are many possible career opportunities for a graduate in paper and cardboard technology and chemistry, including: production industries throughout the paper and cardboard sector, whether local or multinational with plants located throughout Europe and the world. Sector service companies such as those that design paper machines, manufacturers of industrial products and high-tech consumer goods; mechanical and electromechanical industries; chemical industries.
